Porsche GT3 manual vs PDK: what the tracked cars show

Few spec questions start more arguments than manual or PDK. Here is which gearbox each Porsche GT model came with, how many of each we track by VIN, and what the choice means when you buy and when you sell.

Which models came with which gearbox

Some GT cars were offered with one gearbox only: every 996 and 997 GT3 and GT3 RS is a manual, the 991.1 GT3 and both 991 GT3 RS models are PDK only, and the 991.2 GT3 and the 992 GT3 offered both. The GT3 Touring was manual only in the 991.2 generation. The 997.2 Turbo offered both; the 997.2 Turbo S was PDK only.

What the cars we track show

911 Tracker, cars with a recorded gearbox, as of Oct 20, 2026; models with fewer than 5 such cars are left out. A model with only one gearbox shows zeros for the other.

What it means for value

Where both gearboxes exist, the less common one in a given model tends to be the one collectors chase, but it depends on the model, the year and the rest of the spec. How to choose

Buy the car you want to drive. PDK cars are faster on track and easier in traffic; manuals are more involving and in some models scarcer. If resale is part of the plan, check how many of each are listed and selling for your exact model on 911 Tracker before you decide.
