Known problems to check

  • No model-specific pattern faults reported

PistonHeads reports no specific faults for the 991.2 GT3/RS; the 4.0 L engine was redesigned (stiffer crank with central oil feed, no hydraulic lifters, new oil system and liners), which it says fixed the 3.8's problems.

Fix: Pre-purchase inspection incl. DME over-rev report and service history.

  • PDK clutch-fluid service

The GT3's PDK needs a periodic clutch-fluid change (Porsche schedule shown as 48k miles / 4-6 years; specialists suggest ~30k, and more often for regularly tracked cars). Skipped service is a common gap in records.

Fix: Perform PDK clutch-fluid (and later transmission oil) service per schedule.

  • Carbon-ceramic (PCCB) rotor replacement cost

PCCB was optional; discs are replaced for chips/cracks or wear and are roughly 10x the cost of iron rotors. Mainly a concern on tracked cars.

Fix: Inspect discs and pads before purchase; replace or convert to iron rotors.
