Known problems to check
Connecting-rod bolt engine fire recall (14V090)
Early MY2014 cars: a loosened connecting-rod bolt damaged the crankcase, causing at least two engine fires. Porsche replaced the engine in all 785 cars built to that point.
Fix: Recall AE01: new engine with optimized rod bolts plus software updates; affected owners got an extra 12-month warranty. Check that the recall was completed (VIN-specific).

Finger-follower (valve lever) / camshaft wear
A metallurgical defect in some batches of finger followers caused wear, leading to high-rpm misfires (P0300-P0306), check-engine light and limp mode, mostly around 7,000 rpm on full load. Affects 2014-2016 GT3 (not the 991.1 RS or 911 R).
Fix: Porsche revised the finger followers and camshafts; the TSB remedy is replacing all camshafts and valve levers, and Porsche added a transferable 10-year/120,000-mile engine warranty for this fault (engine replacement if it fails).

PDK clutch-fluid service
The GT3's PDK needs a periodic clutch-fluid change (Porsche schedule shown as 48k miles / 4-6 years; specialists suggest ~30k, and more often for regularly tracked cars). Skipped service is a common gap in records.
Fix: Perform PDK clutch-fluid (and later transmission oil) service per schedule.

Carbon-ceramic (PCCB) rotor replacement cost
PCCB was optional; discs are replaced for chips/cracks or wear and are roughly 10x the cost of iron rotors. Mainly a concern on tracked cars.
Fix: Inspect discs and pads before purchase; replace or convert to iron rotors.
