Sell, trade or consign your Porsche: which pays more

There are four ways to sell a Porsche: privately, on consignment, as a trade-in, or to a specialist buyer like us. Each one trades money for time and risk. Here is how they compare, plainly.
The four options
| Option | Money | Time | Work and risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private sale | Usually the most, if the car is in demand | Weeks to months | Calls, test drives, strangers, payment fraud, title and payoff paperwork |
| Consignment | Retail price minus the consignor's fee | As long as it takes to sell | Less work for you; the car is away from you and you wait to be paid |
| Trade-in | Often the least, offset by any sales-tax credit in your state | Same day | Tied to buying a car from that dealer |
| Specialist buyer | A firm wholesale number | 1 business hour to an offer, days to paid | Least work: payoff, paperwork and enclosed pickup handled |
Private sale
Best when the car is in demand and you have time. Price it from recent sales of your exact model on 911 Tracker, not from asking prices. Only accept funds that have cleared before the title changes hands.
Consignment
A dealer markets your car to retail buyers and pays you when it sells, less a fee. If our offer is not right for you, our parent company HBi Auto can consign your car.
Trade-in
Simplest when you are buying anyway, and in many states you only pay sales tax on the difference, which narrows the gap. You can also sell to 911 Buyers and put the money toward an HBi Auto car.
Specialist buyer
The fastest and least work. A specialist who knows the car pays more than a generalist who prices from a book. Read why a dealer offer is below retail to see what the difference pays for.
