Common problems
- No model-specific pattern faults reported (minor)PistonHeads reports no specific faults for the 991.2 GT3/RS; the 4.0 L engine was redesigned (stiffer crank with central oil feed, no hydraulic lifters, new oil system and liners), which it says fixed the 3.8's problems.Fix: Pre-purchase inspection incl. DME over-rev report and service history.Source
- PDK clutch-fluid service (minor)The GT3's PDK needs a periodic clutch-fluid change (Porsche schedule shown as 48k miles / 4-6 years; specialists suggest ~30k, and more often for regularly tracked cars). Skipped service is a common gap in records.Fix: Perform PDK clutch-fluid (and later transmission oil) service per schedule.Source
- Carbon-ceramic (PCCB) rotor replacement cost (moderate)PCCB was optional; discs are replaced for chips/cracks or wear and are roughly 10x the cost of iron rotors. Mainly a concern on tracked cars.Fix: Inspect discs and pads before purchase; replace or convert to iron rotors.Source
